WHAT THIS PACKAGE DOES
This package installs the software (Ethernet driver) to enable the
following devices.
- Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection
- Intel 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection
Refer to marketing materials to find out what ThinkPad models
support which devices.
This package also installs Intel PROSet for Windows Device Manager
which is an extension to the Windows Device Manager.
After the Intel PROSet software is installed, additional tabs are
automatically added to Device Manager.
If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing)
this package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand
functions as noted below.
This program is language independent and can be used with any
language system.

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your
system, follow the following instructions.
1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
2. Click System and Maintenance, then click System.
3. Click Device Manager.
4. Expand the Network adapters category.
5. Double-click Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection or
Intel 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection.
6. Click the Driver tab and the driver version will be displayed.

NOTES
For PROSet users:
If a prior versions of Intel PROSet was installed, you should be
aware of the following changes with Intel PROSet for Windows Device
Manager;
- There is no system tray icon.
- The configuration utility is not accessible from the Control Panel
or the Start menu.
- All Intel PROSet features are now accessed from Device Manager.
To access features, simply open the Device Manager and double-
click the Intel adapter you would like to configure.

If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to
update the software. To determine if you should update the software,
refer to the Version Information section.

Manual Install
1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
3. Click System and Maintenance, then click System.
4. Click Device Manager.
5. Expand the Network adapters category.
6. Right-click Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection or
Intel 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection and then select Update
Driver Software...
7. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
8. Click Browse..., then select one of the following driver
locations:
For Windows Vista 32-bit, the default location is
C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\PRO1000\Win32
For Windows Vista 64-bit, the default location is
C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\PRO1000\Winx64
9. Select Include subfolders, then click Next.
10. Click Close when the installation has completed.
Unattended Install
This is for system administrators' use only.
DOS drivers for unattended installation:
For customers who need unattended installation, the DOS drivers are
included in another package (7KRDxxWW package). The DOS drivers can
be used only for this purpose.
The information about unattended installation instructions are
included in the following folders in this package.

Manual Install
1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
2. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click
Run...
3. Specify DxSetup.exe with the full path name where you extracted
the package and click OK.
Example for Windows Vista 32-bit:
C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\APPS\PROSETDX\Vista32\DxSetup.exe
Example for Windows Vista 64-bit:
C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\APPS\PROSETDX\Vistax64\DxSetup.exe
4. Click Next.
5. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then click
Next.
6. Click Next.
7. Click Install.
8. Click Finish.
