What This Package Does
-----------------------
This package provides ACPI power management support (F12 keys)
to the following ThinkPad computers for Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP/Vista

       while suspending.

        M1x, M2x, M3x, M4x and M5x.

Installation Guide
------------------
(Note)
To determine if you should update the power management driver, refer
to the "Summary of Changes" section.


INSTALL:
 1. Start Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP/Vista and logon with administrative
    privileges.
 2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
    The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IBMPM.
 3. For Windows Vista, Click Start, select All Programs, select
    Accessories, then click Run...
    For Windows XP/2000, Click Start, then click Run...
    Note: For unattended installation, Run SETUP.EXE with the command
          line flags as follows: SETUP -S -SMS
 4. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the
    package in step 2, and click OK.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IBMPM\SETUP.EXE
 5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

UNINSTALL:

Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP/Vista

 1. Start Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP and logon with administrative
    privileges.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. click Add/Remove Programs.
 4. Click ThinkPad Power Management driver and click the
    Add/Remove... button.
 5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Windows Vista

 1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Click Start, click Control Panel, then click Programs.
 3. Under Programs and Features, click Uninstall a program.
 4. Right-click ThinkPad Power Management driver and select Uninstall.
 5. Click Continue.


Silent Installation Guide (for Unattended Installation support)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Note:
 This is for system administrators' use only.

 When you type [Program Path]\SETUP in the above installation guide,
 add "-S -SMS" parameter to SETUP.
 (You need to type "[Program Path]\SETUP -S -SMS" in "Run...". )

HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED:

Method 1:

 If you have the original extracted files, find the DISKKU.VER file.
 You can see the version information using a text editor.

Method 2:

Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP:

 1. Start Windows Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP and logon with administrative
    privileges.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Select Add/Remove Programs.
 4. Find ThinkPad Power Management Driver, then click Click here for
    support information. The software version is displayed.

Windows Vista
 1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Click Start, click Control Panel, then click Programs.
 3. Under Programs and Features, click ThinkPad Power Management Driver.
 4. Select Organize, select Layout, then select Details Pane.
 5. The product version will be displayed in the Details Pane.
