WHAT THIS PACKAGE DOES

  This package installs Message Center software for ThinkPad.

  If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) this
  package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted
  below.

DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED


 [Windows Vista]

  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Uninstall a program. You will see Uninstall or change a program
     window.
  3. Select Message Center.
  4. Click Organize, click Layout, then select Details Pane (Details Pane might
     be already selected). You will see the version information on the pane
     below.
  5. Close the Uninstall or change a program window.


 [Windows XP]

  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click Message Center, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
  4. Click 'Click here for support information' link. You will see the version
     information on the screen.
  5. Close Add/Remove Programs.


 [Windows 2000]

  1. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click Message Center, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
  4. Click 'Click here for support information' link. You will see the version
     information on the screen.
  5. Close Add/Remove Programs.

NOTES

- In case of Windows 2000, it is required to install one of the following
  Microsoft service packs.
  - Windows 2000 SP4 and update rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4
  - Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1

- If Access IBM Message Center has been installed, it is required to uninstall
  Access IBM Message Center before installing Message Center.

- It requires ThinkVantage Productivity Center version 2.00 or later to work
  with ThinkVantage Productivity Center.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Note:
- If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update
  the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the
  Version Information section.


Manual Install

  Note: After being downloaded, the file will need to be extracted.

  1. Start Windows Vista/XP/2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
     The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AMSG.
  3. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run...
  4. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package
     in the step 2, and click OK.
     Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AMSG\SETUP.EXE
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Click Finish to reboot the system to complete the installation.


Unattended Install

  This is for system administrators' use only.

  - Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files.
  - At the command line, execute SETUP.EXE with the -S -SMS options.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\W2K\PDIRECT\SETUP -S -SMS

UNINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS


 [Windows Vista]

  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Uninstall a program. You will see Uninstall or change a program
     window.
  4. Click Message Center, then click Uninstall/Change.
  5. Click Continue on User Account Control.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen and then reboot the computer.


 [Windows XP]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Click Message Center, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
  5. Select Remove or OK, then click Next or OK.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen and then reboot the computer.


 [Windows 2000]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Click Message Center, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
