WHAT THIS PACKAGE DOES
  This package installs the software (ThinkPad UltraNav utility software) to
  enable the following device.
  - ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device
  Refer to marketing materials to find out what computer models support which
  devices.
  If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) this
  package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted
  below.

DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED
 [Windows Vista]
  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click "Programs and Features".
  3. Select 'ThinkPad UltraNav Utility' from the list of installed programs. The
     version of the ThinkPad UltraNav Utility will be displayed as Product
     version.
  4. If the details of ThinkPad UltraNav Utility does not appear, click the
     "Organize" button.
  5. Click "Layout", then click "Details Pane".
  6. Check the details of ThinkPad UltraNav Utility on the bottom part of the
     window.
 [Windows XP]
  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click 'Add or Remove Programs'.
  3. Select "ThinkPad UltraNav Utility" from the list of installed programs.
  4. Click "Click here for support information". A window will be displayed
     containing the version number of ThinkPad UltraNav Utility.

NOTES
- ThinkPad UltraNav Driver or ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 2 must be installed as
  well as this package.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Notes:
- If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update
  the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the
  Version Information section.
- Before update, uninstallation of current driver is recommended. Refer to the
  Uninstallation Instructions section.
Manual Install
  This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.
  Downloading files
  1. Click once on the underlined file name with the left mouse button. Once
     this is done, a pop-up window will appear.
  2. In this pop-up window, choose (using the left mouse button) the directory
     you would like to download the file to and click the "Save" button.
     A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete
     without your assistance.
  3. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating
     that the download completed successfully.
  4. After being downloaded, the file will need to be extracted.
  Extracting files
  5. Open Windows Explorer and locate the directory where the file was
     downloaded.
  6. Locate the file that was just downloaded and click it using the right mouse
     button then select 'Extract All'.
  7. The file will begin to extract in the directory where the downloaded file
     is located.
  Installing files
  8. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  9. Open Windows Explorer and locate the directory where the files were
     extracted.
 10. Double-click SETUP file.
 11. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Unattended Install
  This is for system administrators' use only.
  - Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files.
  - At the command line, execute SETUP.EXE with the -s -SMS options.
    Example: [Path where the files were extracted]\SETUP -s -SMS

UNINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Manual Uninstall

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Click 'Uninstall a program'.
  4. Select 'ThinkPad UltraNav Utility', then click the Uninstall button.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to reboot the computer.
 [Windows XP]
  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Open Control Panel.
  3. Click 'Add or Remove Programs'.
  4. Select 'ThinkPad UltraNav Utility', then click 'Change/Remove'.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to reboot the computer.

  1. But what does it *DO*?

    *WHY* should I install it?

    Unless a piece of software improves performance, then one should never install it. (Otherwise, it just slows down system performance, takes up disk space and maybe memory.)

    So what does this utility do?
